BIOJAM’S COVID-19 ANTIGEN TESTS MEET THE REQUIREMENTS AND HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED BY THE COMPETENT AUTHORITIES IN PORTUGAL

COVID-19 rapid antigen detection tests should be used in accordance with the clinical and epidemiological situation, and the purpose for which they are intended. Namely, the rapid detection of COVID-19 cases for the swift implementation of measures to control SARS-CoV-2 transmission.

In Portugal, only tests that meet performance standards with sensitivity values greater than or equal to 90% and specificity values greater than or equal to 97% are accepted.

THERE ARE PRESENTLY 3 TYPES OF COVID-19 TESTS AVAILABLE ON THE MARKET (COVID-19 ANTIGEN, PCR, AND SEROLOGICAL TESTS)

Antigen tests screen samples collected from the respiratory tract for particles of SARS-CoV-2 viral proteins through detection of their antigens.

PCR tests screen samples collected from the respiratory tract for particles of SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19.

IgG / IgM serology tests screen blood samples for immunoglobulin G (IgG) and immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibodies against COVID-19. These tests can be used to determine infection at a later stage of contagion and potential immunity to COVID-19.
