The Longevity Med Summit "will make Portugal more attractive by sharing essential solutions for leading the economy of the future. Generating new business opportunities, fostering the market and bringing together companies from all sectors of economic activity", the event has partners such as: Time Line by Amazentis, European Society of Preventive Medicine, Ageing Research at Kings College, Nova Medical School, University of Coimbra, Hospital da Luz - Learning Health, Vita DAO, Longevity Science Foundation, among others.
According to the press release, this event "will bring some of the biggest international investors and investment funds to our country, reinforcing the value, development of ideas and knowledge that provide companies with a unique opportunity to meet and make themselves known to other peers and market leaders".
One of the investors who will be present is Petr Sramek, co-founder and manager of LongevityTech.fund. "With more than 40 projects in the field of longevity in the last three years, LongevityTech.fund is one of the most active longevity investment funds in the world, with an investment portfolio that includes companies such as BrainKey, Gerostate Alpha and Occuity, an IPO (Longevity Biotech Genflow Biosciences) and a company (Longevity Risk Management Firm Vesttoo) that recently became the fund's first unicorn (valued at more than USD 10 billion)," explains the statement.
For Petr Sramek, the current longevity investment market is comparable to the Artificial Intelligence (AI) sector, before the rise in the value of shares in that market, and now is the time to invest in the areas of healthy human longevity.
On 4 and 5 May 2023, at the Carlos Lopes Pavilion in Lisbon, this summit aims to foster a debate that is becoming an increasingly important priority when discussing the subject of health: how to promote healthy human longevity and deal with the challenges that require innovative and highly technological solutions - in the healthcare, insurance, consumer, real estate and financial investment markets.
Jorge Lima, founder of Unipeer Solutions and responsible for organising the Longevity Med Summit, commented: "Created with the aim of being a unique and innovative event and with the promise of being a differentiator in the longevity medicine ecosystem, the LONGEVITY MED SUMMIT will be the meeting place for the world's leading experts in a variety of areas ranging from health and research to sectors such as health tourism, biotechnology, precision medicine, regenerative medicine and artificial intelligence. (...) By 2050, the senior population will double, so there is an urgent need to find solutions and tools to meet the demand that this paradigm shift will bring."
Over the course of two days, it will be possible to attend conferences, talks, start-up pitches and activations focusing on longevity, regenerative medicine, nutrition and therapies. This first edition also includes networking moments between speakers, participants and investors in the sector.
It will feature names such as Philipp Gut (director of the Data Sciences and Precision Nutrition Department at Nestlé Health Sciences), Aubrey de Grey (Biomedical Gerontologist), Michael Sagner (director of the European Society of Preventive Medicine), Garri Zmudze (investor in the LongVC Fund and executive coordinator of the Longevity Science Foundation), Eric Verdin (president and CEO of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging) and Cláudia Cavadas (director of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research at the University of Coimbra).
