As a scientific society that brings together all pharmacists working in healthcare, SPFCS successfully organized a new edition of EN2 – Odyssey of Knowledge.
Implementing a new format for this initiative, the afternoon of the first day of the 6th National Congress Winds of Change featured the presentation of results from scientific projects developed by pharmacists from various fields, promoting the sharing of knowledge among colleagues.
Out of the 24 works submitted in the categories of “Original Studies,” “Protocols,” and “Clinical Cases,” the top 10 were selected by the jury for oral presentations.

In the Protocols or Clinical Cases category, the winning project, developed by pharmacists from Hospital Pedro Hispano, was presented by Anita Dourado.
In the study “Daily monitoring of environmental quality and operator glove fingerprint in a Cytotoxic Preparation Unit”, the authors evaluated the impact of the air quality in the preparation room and laminar flow cabinet, as well as the operator’s aseptic technique, on cytotoxic drug preparation. Particularly noteworthy were the findings regarding the identification of the predominant environmental flora, which underscored the relevance of the study.
The work “HLA-DQA105 and immunogenicity in anti-TNF therapy”, presented by ULS Coimbra, won in the Original Studies category. Demonstrating a remarkable degree of innovation, the authors explored the relationship between the HLA-DQA105 allele and the development of anti-drug antibodies in patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease undergoing anti-TNF therapy. Although still preliminary, SPFCS expects the study to lead to a future scientific publication with high impact in the field of biological medicines.

The winning project will receive support from SPFCS, through sponsorship from our partners at Biojam, for submission to a scientific journal, further promoting scientific research in the pharmaceutical field.
